Jessie Jaynes-Diming conducts tours of civil rights sites in the Mississippi Delta and serves on the board of the Emmett Till Memorial Commission. She states how she was surprised to learn how many people are uneducated about Emmett Till’s story. She hosts tours to mainly educate people and share his story.
Both Gordon and Gordon-Taylor said they’re motivated to continue commemorating their cousin for members of their family who still live in fear of what an association to Emmett might mean in the Mississippi Delta.
They are continuing to raise awareness and make sure Emmett Till’s story isn’t forgotten.

The space that was important to me was my grandparent's property. I always like to bring my close friends their to show them where a lot of my core childhood memories formed. It could be important within a community to continue to value the property of their older family members even after they are gone.
