Simple Reflection
Elliott Green
Things that read true is speaking up is better than saying nothing. It is ok to feel fear when you speak up, but just know it takes bravery. Most people do not speak up because they are not brave enough to do so, it shows that you can stand your own ground. It is ok to feel fear, because the bravest people are the ones who do not feel fear, they are the ones who face it. Fear kills a lot of things, if you feel like you should do something, you probably should. Your first instinct is your best instinct. Audre Lorde challenges me to speak up more, establish my thoughts, and get things off my chest when I feel like it. Questions I have for Audre Lorde would be what is her opinion on actions. Actions tend to speak louder than words. People can speak by their actions, do not get me wrong words are powerful, but usually the most powerful people are the ones who speak the least and do the most with their actions. It is also one thing to speak up about something, but if you speak about something you have to live out what you speak. An example of a person who does this would be Conor McGregor. Conor McGregor talks a lot, but his actions speak up for it. When he enters the octagon you can feel his presence just by the way he walks, you know who he is as soon as he enters, he does not have to say a word. I would agree with Audre Lorde that it is better to speak up then be silent, it is better to face fear, then ignore it or hide from it. The more you speak up/face fear the more comfortable you will be with it and the more you will do it. You will find yourself more, be more confident in what you do, and stand up for yourself more. Only question I have to Audre Lorde is make sure your words follow your actions. If you speak about it put it into existence.
