This text was an interesting one. In the beginning, I was kind of seeing where this text was going. Then as I approached the middle I was completely lost. Then somewhere in the last sentences, I think I managed to catch up to where she was going. To summarise the text it is about breaking the silence and speak out, to stand up for oneself and others is the main message behind this text in my eyes. And of course, that is totally agreeable. Ethnicity and someone's sexuality should never be a reason for someone to look down on someone else, period.
I just think that this text was very strange for some reason. I can not put my finger on why exactly. One thing that this text did remind me of tho was one of the lectures we had here on campus during August Welcome for us freshmen. Where they spoke about the importance of speaking up. And that it may not always benefit you. But for others, it may be extremely valuable. I also remembered that during this lecture they often referred to the phrase "Ouch". Which is a soft way of saying- that hurt me...
This phrase could in some cases be enough so that when the person is situated in a similar situation in the future he or she might be a little more cautious of what he or she says.
